Saturday Storytime: "Pup 681" with Jean Reidy

We are so happy that award-winning picture book author Jean Reidy is joining us as special guest star for this edition of Saturday Storytime! She'll be sharing her latest book PUP 681: A SEA OTTER RESCUE STORY. Then, it’s time for sea otter school as Jean leads young readers and listeners through a few of the fun and funny behaviors and activities they’ll need to learn to be a successful sea otter. They might even earn a diploma!  

This event is aimed at kids 3 and up, and is free and open to the public.  Join us each Saturday at 10:30 AM for stories and fun.

In Pup 681, a heartwarming sea otter rescue story, a tiny sea otter pup is washed ashore alone, and needs help! Soon, a rescuer is there, to take her in and keep her warm and fed. The pup faces challenges in her new life without her sea otter family. But with the love and care of her rescuer, she flourishes in her new home. Inspired by a Inspired by the true story of orphaned sea otter Pup 681 (Luna of the Shedd Aquarium, right here in Chicago), this sweet picture book celebraties animal rescue, family, and love. In a starred review, Kirkus Reviews calls Pup 681 "Unabashedly adorable."

Jean Reidy is the author of several picture books--including Pup 681 and When the Snow Is Deeper Than My Boots Are Tall--with many more on the way! Originally from Highland Park, Ms. Reidy is a two-time winner of the Colorado Book Award and lives right across the street from her local library, which she visits nearly every day.
