Rick McIntyre, the acclaimed author of the Alpha Wolves of Yellowstone Book Series, has recorded more sightings of wild wolves than any other person in history. Having spent over 8,500 days in the field observing wolves in Yellowstone National Park, McIntyre is considered one of the world's foremost experts on wild wolf behavior. He has spoken about the Yellowstone wolves with 60 Minutes, NPR, and CBC, and he is profiled extensively in Nate Blakeslee's American Wolf and in international publications. He lives in Silver Gate, Montana.

Join us as Rick speaks about his new book The Reign of Wolf 21.  This true story is about a wolf pup whose father was shot and killed the day he was born.  He and his seven siblings were raised by a single mother then a young adult male joined the pack and helped her care for those pups.   Later 21 left home and joined a neighboring wolf pack as their new alpha male.  He had an especially close relationship with female 42 that lasted for many years.  When she died he was never the same and did something especially poignant at the end of his long life.

"Like Darwin, McIntyre is an inclusionist and is thus able to enter the hearts and minds of wolves, providing us with a consummately rounded picture of their lives. Along the way, he creates a fully realized world that stands whole and sublime alongside our far more troubled human one."  --Mountain Journal

"Wolves have always been majestic creatures, and The Reign of Wolf 21 [...] beautifully illustrates this. [G]reat for nature lovers or people interested in learning more about wolves and wolf behavior."  --The Yakima Herald

"A gripping tale of triumph and loss told with an unsurpassed appreciation for the wolves of Yellowstone and the natural world they inhabit."  --Bernd Heinrich, professor emeritus of biology at the University of Vermont and author of Mind of the Raven
