We are so happy that our friend Andy Rash is joining us as special guest star for this edition of Saturday Storytime. He'll be reading and signing copies of his new book, Unstinky, about a stink bug named Bud who is generally a very happy guy. He only has one problem: he doesn't stink!
Publishers Weekly says, "Rash (Archie the Daredevil Penguin) creates a playful twist on familiar themes of fitting in and finding one’s talents. Thickly lined gouache-and-ink illustrations ramp up the humor, from the expressive, goofy cast to small groovy details (the bees’ white go-go boots, the daisy petals encircling the title). Filled with active commands (“Stomp your feet!” “Waggle your bottom!”), this will be a winner for readalouds."
We say that visits from Andy are always a blast, and he can draw like nobody's business. Please come out and join in the fun. Recommended for pciture book fans from 3 - 103. Can't make it to the event? Call us at 847-446-8880, and we'll be happy to arrange an autographed copy for you.
Andy Rash is the author and illustrator of several picture books, including The Robots Are Coming, Are You a Horse?, and Agent A to Agent Z. Andy's illustrations have been featured in the New York Times, Time, Wired, the New Yorker, and other national publications, and his animations have been shown on Nickelodeon. He lives in Milwaukee with his wife and two children.
Bud is a happy stinkbug, except when it comes to stinking contests.
He always seems to lose to champions like P. U. Bottoms, Lord Stinkington, and The Fumigator.
Every time they make smells like OUTHOUSE, GYM SOCK, and ARMPIT, poor Bud ends up smelling like FLOWERS, or FRESH-BAKED BREAD, or CANDY CANE.
Stinking just isn't Bud's THING. But what IS his thing?

Gadzooks! Archie the Daredevil Penguin is hiding a dark secret: he’s afraid of the water and the creatures who lurk in the briny deep! And it’s keeping him from attending the fish fry on Iceberg Nine.
But penguins aren’t supposed to be afraid of water, especially not daredevil penguins. He musn’t let his friends know!
