Go Green Reads discusses "The Hidden Life of Trees"

The Go Green Reads discussion group meets to discuss The Hidden Life of Trees: What They Feel, How They Communicate--Discoveries from a Secret World.

Drawing on groundbreaking new discoveries, New York Times bestselling author Peter Wohlleben presents the science behind the secret and previously unknown life of trees and their communication abilities. He believes eco-friendly practices not only are economically sustainable but also benefit the health of our planet and the mental and physical health of all who live on Earth. (This is the first book in The Mysteries of Nature Trilogy. Book Two, The Inner Life of Animals, is available now, and the third book, The Secret Network of Nature, is coming in Spring 2019.)

"Peter Wohlleben takes us on a fascinating guided tour of a secret world in which wilderness trees talk to one another, exchange nutrients, and even experience mutual sexual attraction. Who knew? The Hidden Life of Trees makes it abundantly clear why trees are the crowned heads of the plant kingdom." -- --Wayne Grady, co-author of Tree: A Life Story

Peter Wohlleben spent over twenty years working for the forestry commission in Germany before leaving to put his ideas of ecology into practice. He now runs an environmentally-friendly woodland in Germany, where he is working for the return of primeval forests. He is the author of numerous books about trees.

The Go Green Reads discussions are free and open to the public. This discussion group started in the spring of 2017. They focus on environmental and sustainable topics such as consumption, waste management, farming/gardening, native plants, water, capitalism, and climate change, just to name a few. The goal of Go Green Reads is to spread awareness and inspire collective and individual action. In addtion to discussing books, the group screens movies, engages speakers, and organizes local field trips.
